While it is hard to think about wetlands when we are in the middle of a long dry summer but spare a thought for the important part that wetlands play in our lives. You may like to participate in a World Wetlands Day event to learn more about wetlands.
World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on 2 February. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
The Leigh Catchment Group are hosting at Walk n’ Talk around the Yuille Station Reserve Wetlands on the Yarrowee River on 13 February. The morning will involve learning about the natural environment with environmental educators and activities for include;
- A discussion on the Yarrowee River project
- Exploring our local flora and fauna
- Science experiments for adults and kids
- Morning tea provided
