Stumped!

Tree stumps are undervalued and often removed for firewood or more often pushed into a heap and burnt on site. This spring a grey shrike thrush chose one of our stumps to build a nest.

The pair went onto raise two young despite nearly losing them to possum. We captured the retreat of the possum on a camera. Lots of animals and birds find stumps useful.Grey Shrike-thrush chick raised in a nest in stump
