Thinking about shelterbelts, changes to rainfall and sustainability

A while ago I posted an appeal from the Ballarat Region Treegrowers who were looking for  funding contributions towards a film they were making to  promote a vision for Australia’s rural landscapes – one with less erosion, more beauty, plenty of native grass, trees and wildlife and a way for people to earn an ‘environmentally friendly’ income through different kinds of tree growing. The good news is that the film is in the final stages of editing and will be free as a creative commons project, the release date is June 2014. As a prelude to the film, extracts and interviews from it are being made available on a new website called Rediscovering The Country. If you are interested in landcare, analogue forestry & land restoration there is also a range of interesting links to follow.
