Leigh Catchment – call for projects

Leigh Catchment Group, the local Landcare network for Ballarat and areas south of Ballarat, is seeking landholders who are interested in undertaking general landcare projects e.g. revegetation, remnant vegetation protection, pest and weed control next year. This is for  conservation/sustainable agriculture purposes, for which there may be funding available.

The Landcare network is currently looking in particular for landholders with stream frontage who would like to undertake conservation work to improve the health of the local Leigh/Yarrowee River and tributaries. A significant financial contribution for landholders is available through catchment management funding, towards fencing waterways from livestock, planting indigenous trees and shrubs and weed removal along creek banks. This will be for work starting in 2014.

For further information and an Expression of Interest form contact Jenny Ryle, Landcare Coordinator on leighcg@ncable.au or 0409 400 520 or leave a clear message on the office answer machine 0353412364.
